I'm Cartoonist and Humorist Ronald Murphy. This is my home site.
Drawing cartoons is a passion I developed later in life, after I retired from a forty-year career in computer technology. When I first started, I drew gag cartoons. But after about six months of that, I realized my heart wasn't in it -- or more importantly, my head wasn't.
Instead, my mind was usually absorbed with politics and government, an interest I'd held for some time. One day I realized I was missing a very important connection. Cartooning and Politics. Politics and Cartooning. Holy Moley. Political Cartooning!!!
( I still feel like saying "duh" every time I think about this...)
So, soon after that revelation, I started a website "DrawnOutOpinion.com." That's where I publish my progressive, political cartoons and humorous commentary. I call it a "cartoon-blog" because it's both.
I feel fortunate that I can devote my time to doing something that I both enjoy and believe has value to others. I don't pretend that my pictures and words can change lives or do anything else at any truly significant level. But I do think my work might help someone express their feelings more effectively.

For those with a technical interest: everything I draw is done digitally - from the initial sketches and storyboards to final publication on my websites. I work on a Wacom drawing tablet. I use a variety of illustration, digital painting, and image-editing software. That includes Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Corel Painter. For animations, I rely on Toon Boom Animate.
